‘Otterly In Love’

I’ve loved working on this collection, inspired by the desire to create something sentimental for my children: a celebration of love in it’s many forms…

For Valentines Day this year I decided to remind the children not only of how much they’re loved, but of how love can be expressed in different ways and relationships; romantic, companionship, playful, affectionate, familial, and above all: unconditional.

Otters quickly came to mind as I thought of an animal to represent this. Some species are known for their monogamous pairing and it’s common for mothers & pups to hold hands whilst sleeping to prevent drifting away from each other. Not forgetting their cute & playful characters, which we have fond family memories of witnessing whilst visiting a local otter park.

With all this in mind, I created three paintings as keepsakes for my children and loved them so much that I decided to paint some more. Each painting evolved in turn, capturing it’s own little moment, unique details and varying foliage; no two paintings are the same.
