My name is Leah Blacher. Mother of three; Wife; Daughter; Sister; Auntie... Artist!

I was born and raised and thankfully still call Cornwall my home. Spending a lot of my childhood playing in the countryside, I was blessed with gardens; fields; quiet country lanes and friends farms to explore at my leisure. Family days out often involved either the beach, moors or woodland, so it's no wonder that I'm drawn to nature as a source of inspiration for my work.

After college I studied and worked in children's learning, care & development and was the Deputy Manager of a local Pre-School at the time I had my first child. Our second child followed soon after and I took on the new role of 'stay-at-home-mum'. It was in 2017 with a 2 year old and 6 month old keeping me on my toes, that I rediscovered my passion to be creative. Craft time with my daughter, Libby, gradually evolved as I started to draw designs for her to paint over, creating cards for loved ones. My Dad encouraged me to design Christmas cards inspired by the Nativity, thus it was the beginning of 'Leah and Libby': home to a range of illustrated products featuring my artwork and a space for me to get lost in creativity whilst sharing it with those around me.

Little did I know how much life would soon change, when Dad suddenly passed away the following Spring. Motivated by his unwavering love and encouragement and my renewed faith, my art quickly took on another dimension and I felt more driven than ever for it to encourage and uplift others. I designed a range of greetings cards, art prints and notepads, selling them online, at markets and stocking independent shops. I also took on commissions for prints and business branding.

Whilst my path has taken various twists and turns in recent years, including returning to education, working as a children’s pastor and adding a third child to our precious brood, L & L has subtly remained a source of joy, encouragement and fulfilment for me. Whenever the journey has seemed foggy and unclear, I’ve been drawn back to my sketchpad, a gift I truly feel is a calling not to ignore. As I continue to create new art and products my hope is that it will provide for you, what it does for me.
